Area teams remain in the hunt for football playoff slots

Carrollton fell one slot to No. 5 in the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) football standings in Division IV, Region 15 after falling to West Branch last Friday.

Undefeated Bloom-Carroll remains atop the region, followed by St. Clairsville (6-1), Indian Valley (4-1) and John Glenn (4-2), all ahead of the Warriors (5-2).

Sandy Valley holds down the No. 10 spot in Division IV, Region 17 with a 4-3 record while Southern Local (5-2) is sitting in the No. 7 spot in Division VII, Region 25, followed by Malvern (5-2) in the No. 9 slot. Conotton Valley (3-3) is No. 14 in Division VII Region 27.

The top 16 teams in each regional when the final rankings are released Oct. 24 will qualify for the playoffs.
