Thomas “Tom” Stropki, 80, of Amsterdam, passed away Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 22, 2021, at Trinity Medical Center West in Steubenville.
Born Sept. 24, 1940, at home in Bergholz, he was a son of the late Thomas and Jennie Nasuta Stropki.
A heavy equipment operator by trade, Tom retired after working 38 years. His wife and family will remember him as a loving husband and avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed fishing and hunting. When not hunting or fishing, Tom enjoyed learning about archaeology and anything related to Native American history.
He is survived by his wife, the former Wanda Morris; six children, Larry Nowakowski of Dillonvale, Darlene (Ron) Baker of Bridgeport, Karen (Rich) Thomas of Adena and Katheryn (Dave) Swiger of Painseville Township; 14 grandchildren, who lovingly called him “Pappy Tom”; brother, William (Yvonne) Stropki; niece, Monica (Brent) Barnes; great nephew, Brandon Barnes; son-in-law, Don Falbo of South Carolina; and daughter-in-law, Lori Nowakowski of Bridgeport.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by two children, Teresa Falbo and James Nowakowski, and a sister, Carol Rinehart.
In accordance with Tom’s wishes there will be no services held. Dodds Funeral Home of Amsterdam assisted the family with the arrangements.
