Ronald “Big Daddy” R. Stone, 53, of East Springfield, passed away Thursday, Feb. 23, 2023, after a long battle with cancer.
Born on July 30, 1969, in Steubenville, he was the son of Ronald F. and Linda Wallace Stone.
Ron proudly served his country in the United States Army and fought in the Persian Gulf War. He was a member of the Amsterdam VFW, American Legion in Hopedale, and was a member of the Wardogs Motorcycle Club for over 10 years. As a 1988 graduate of Springfield High School, Ron was well known for his love of playing football for the Tigers.
Along with his parents, Ron is survived by his son, Maverick Keyser; two daughters, Rani Stone and Taylor (Cody) Hennis; two grandchildren, Raelynn Mills and Eleannah Mills; brother, Scott (Cheryl) Stone; two sisters, Amanda (Robert) Flint and Amy Stone Bennett; three nephews, Ryan Burger, Liam Bennett, and Grayson Stone; and three nieces, Lexie Burger, Olivia Bennett, and Evelyn Stone.
He was preceded in death by his son, Curtis Stone; grandson, Johnathan Mills; grandmother, Helen V. Wallace; and special brother, Tim “Peachtree” Gotschall.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 28, at Dodds Funeral Home in Amsterdam with Pastor Larry Diekman officiating. Visitation will be held Feb. 27 from 1-3 p.m. and 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Ron’s memory to the Amsterdam VFW Post 232 412 Liberty St. Amsterdam, OH 43903.
