Richard E. Tucker, 75, of Carrollton, died Wednesday evening, Jan. 5, 2022, in Cleveland Clinic Union Hospital at Dover following a brief illness.

Born Feb. 17, 1946, in Winchester, MA, he was the son of the late Carle Richard and Marilyn Frances Greel Tucker. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Debra Mays; a great-granddaughter, Hallie Rose Tucker; two brothers, Francis Tucker and William Tucker; and two sisters, Donna Ickler and Susan Wagner.

Richard was a self-employed long-haul truck driver for many years who owned and operated the former “Black Dawg Express” trucking company. He finished his trucking career as a local driver for Slesnick’s Paper Recycling Company out of Canton, OH. He was behind the wheel of a truck since 1979. 

He was a member of the former New Harrisburg Presbyterian Church. A dedicated outdoorsman, he loved to go hunting and fishing. He was a devoted fan of Elvis Presley and enjoyed watching western movies on television. He was blessed with the perfect occupation because he loved to travel. Closer to home, he loved the company of his family and the joy of being surrounded by his grandchildren. One of his favorite activities was gathering with his grandchildren every other Friday night in his home to watch WWE wrestling together.

He is survived by  his wife, Kimberly K. Merryman Tucker, whom he married June 4, 1978; his four children, Richard Earl (Sheri) Tucker of Carrollton, Mark (Sandra) Tucker, Sr. of Malvern, Amanda Tucker of Mt. Lebanon, PA, and Marilyn Miller (fiancée David Newbold) of Carrollton; 15 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; six siblings, Linda Jones of Minerva, Thomas (Rita) Tucker of Lakeworth, FL, Dorothy “Dottie” Piper of Rock Hill, SC, Nancy Elizabeth Tucker of Palmetto, FL, Steven (Dora) Tucker of Chester, SC, and David (Jean) Tucker of Hopedale.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, Jan. 8, at 12 noon in Baxter-Gardner Funeral Home at Sherrodsville with Pastor Randy Reed officiating. Interment will follow in the Baxter’s Ridge Cemetery, in Harrison Township, Carroll County. Calling hours will be held one hour prior to services on Saturday in the funeral home.
