James Paul Patterson, 93, of Minerva, passed away Friday, Jan. 22, 2021, at Arbors in Minerva. 

Born Oct. 5, 1927, in Scranton, PA, he was a son to Hugh and Ruth (Weekley) Patterson. 

James enlisted in the Army Air Corp which later became the Air Force. After his discharge, James worked at Babcock and Wilcox and as a mechanic.  He owned and flew his own plane, a Piper Cub and enjoyed working with wood. He belonged to the Commemorative Air Force and the Air Force Association. 

James is survived by two daughters, Barbara Cobb and Paula (Thomas) Wilson, both of Carrollton; two granddaughters, Jodi (Billy) Clarke of Dale, TX, and Nicole (Kris) Durcan of Copperas Cove, TX; great-grandchildren, Logan and Danica Clarke, Emma, Kaleb, Adalyn and Kasen Durcan; and many nieces and nephews. 

In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Louise (Mills) Patterson; a daughter, Jenene Patterson; three sisters, Wanda Byers, Kathleen Patterson and Agnes Curry; and three brothers, Jesse Patterson, Hugh Patterson, Jr. and Paul Patterson. 

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2021, at 11 a.m. at Bartley Funeral Home, 205 W. Lincoln Way, Minerva, with Rev. Harvey Miller of Minerva Community Church of the CMA officiating. Burial will follow at East Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held Jan. 26 from 5 – 8 p.m. at Bartley Funeral Home.  All of the current face masks, social distancing and building occupancy rules will be observed according to the Health Department guidelines.
