Frank Mapes

Frank D. Mapes, 84, of Carrollton, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Dec. 31, 2022 at his home.

He was born in Port Author, Texas, on May 13, 1938, to the late Orval and Alpha (Todd) Mapes.

Throughout his life, Frank was an avid woodworker, making many things including toys and angel sculptures, one of which was donated to and is on display at the Akron Children’s Hospital.  

Frank is survived by his wife, Shirley (Hardesty) Mapes; two daughters, Cindy Mapes and Sandy Gardner; son, Douglas (Peggy) Mapes; five grandchildren, Cassandra Smith, Sabrina (Jeremy) Durbin, Kelsea (Jonathan) Naylor, Doug (Jennifer) Mapes, and Maggie (Logan) Russ; five great grandchildren, Ellis Durbin, Makenzie Sproul, Jozlyn Smith, Luke and Oliver Naylor; three sisters, Glenda (Charlie) Carter, Sally (Willy) Saunders, and Teresa (Mike) Smith, and many nieces and nephews.

According to his wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no formal services. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Frank’s memory to the charity of your choice.

Dodds Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
