Ethel Paxton

Ethel L. Crimm Wright Paxton, of Scio, passed away peacefully on January 17, 2023, in the Carroll County Golden Age Retreat, five days before her 96th birthday.

 Born Jan. 22, 1927, at Station Fifteen, she was the daughter of the late Willard Raymond

Crimm and Patti Levinia Liggett Crimm. She graduated from Scio High School in 1944 and worked at the Scio Pottery for over 40 years.

Ethel attended the Scio United Methodist Church and served as their secretary until she retired at 85. She was a member of the Scio Presbyterian Church and the Scio Alturian Club.  She enjoyed crossword puzzles and watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy. She was well known for her love of cooking, canning, and baking. Ethel married Rollin Edward Wright on June 14, 1947 and he would precede her in death on February 19, 1982.  She married her second husband, Rev. L. Jack Paxton, on October 12, 1985, and he preceded her in death on July 1, 2005.  Also preceding her death is a son-in-law Donald Pettay, two brothers: Harold Crimm and Bill Crimm, and four sisters: Bernice Specht, Beulah Chaney, Ivalena Loy, and Maxine Yager.

 Surviving are her two daughters: Donna (Gene) Dunlap of Carrollton and Joyce Pettay of New

Philadelphia; stepdaughter Sarah (Fabian) Ardila of MA; a stepson Tim Paxton of CA;

grandchildren Sherry (Fred) Noble, Brenda (Corey) Brooks, Gene (Jackie) Dunlap II, Michael

(Tif) Pettay and Andrea (Paul) Poillucci and numerous great and great-great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

   Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Grandview
