Charles Paul Kirkland, 83, of Mechanicstown, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2022.
Born Dec. 13,1938, in Bellaire, OH, he was a son to the late Paul B. and Goldie E. (McFadden) Kirkland.
He married Bonny L. (Crall) Kirkland Aug. 16, 1958. Charlie worked at G.M. Lordstown for over 40 years. His hobby was his farming raising beef and later dairy cows. He lived in Mechanicstown since 1976, coming from Portage County. Charlie was a volunteer fireman with the Palmyra Fire Dept. He was a 50-year Mason with the Charity Masonic Lodge # 330 and he and his wife belonged to the Carroll Chapter Order of the Eastern Star. He was a member of Herrington Bethel United Methodist Church. Charlie’s passion was spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Bonny L. Kirkland; his children, Stewart P. “Bugs” (Darlene) Kirkland of Mechanicstown; two daughters, Hope (Butch) Fowler of Dellroy, and Darla (Bob) Carrick of Mechanicstown; eight grandchildren, Bobby (Michelle) Carrick, Cassie (Michael) Carrick, Holly Lewis, Bryan Carrick, Roshelle (Richard) Rennie, J.P. Fowler, Cody Simmons and Samantha Simmons; seven great grandchildren, Jonothan, Hunter Miles, Carolyn, Ashley Rybecca and Austynn; two step great great grandchildren, Emmalynn and Archer; and his siblings, Bette (Ray) Day of Jacobsburg, OH, and Samuel Joe Kirkland of Bellaire.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Burial was in Herrington Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery. Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, American Shriners or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
