Bertha E. Gotschall

Bertha E. Gotschall, 99, from Carrollton, Ohio went to be with the lord she served. She was born on June 23, 1923, to Harry and Pearl (Sheppard) Nape. 

Bertha married Lester L. Gotschall on October 01, 1943, and he passed away on Sept. 7, 2002.

During W.W. ll she was employed at Hercules to help with the war efforts. She retired from T.R.W after 20 years. At 92 she retired from Harcatus as a grandparent for the pre-school. Bertha went to school till the 8th. Grade. Quitting school to help raise her siblings. It wasn’t till she was in her late 60’s that she and her brother went back and got their G.E.D. 

She is most known in her community for her baking and cooking. She was a seamstress making ballgowns and wedding dresses. She loved and enjoyed baking and decorating wedding cakes. Bertha made hundreds of wedding cakes for family and friends. Bertha was an active member in the Church Of Christ (Christian Disciples) for over 80 years. She will be missed by family and friends.

Survivors include her son–in–law Tom and Jane Smith. Two daughters, Carol Dorsey and Patty and Gary Brammer. Grandkids Bill and Amy Dorsey, Mike Dorsey, Dawn Dorsey, Chris Brammer, Tim and Leslie Smith, Donnie and Jami Irwin and Shawn Smith. Ten great grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband Lester L. Gotschall and her parents Harry and Pearl Nape, her daughter Sandra K. Smith and son–in–law, Bill Dorsey.

Three brothers Harry Nape, Dr. William Nape and Paul Nape and her sister Doris Cassidy.

Calling hours will be held this Friday, Feb. 10, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Church of Christ (Christian Disciples) on Moody Ave. Carrollton, Ohio and the funeral service at noon. Burial will be in the Westview Cemetery.
