Carroll County senior citizens who own their home are eligible to receive emergency assistance through the Housing Assistance Grant Program (HAGP)

The program is provided to non-profit agencies by the Ohio Development Services Agency through the Office of Community Development (OCD) to assist with emergency home repair and/or handicap accessibility modifications to existing housing owned by the occupants.

Modifications include:

•Handicap accessible ramps, threshold modifications and bathroom/ shower modifications;

•Widening door frames for accessible entrance into home, kitchen, bath and one bedroom, hook-up and wiring for laundry appliances on main floor;

•Minor home repair, such as replacement of hot water tanks, furnace repair and air conditioner repair (if medically necessary), replacement of severely deteriorated gutters and downspouts, roof repair.

Persons eligible for services are age 60 and above who meet all grant qualifications in the nine-county region: Belmont, Carroll, Coshocton, Guernsey, Harrison, Holmes, Jefferson, Muskingum and Tuscarawas.

The program will be available through February 2022, or until all funds are expended.

Services will be supplied on a first come, first serve basis with those persons completing all necessary paperwork to document eligibility. Priority will be given to those who are in the most extreme need for safety and health issues while taking the required precautions per the Governor and OCD’s advisement due to the COVID-19 virus.
