Seeking coats, hats, gloves for kids

The annual Carroll County Coats for Kids campaign is underway.

Tom Turnipseed, who is in his 11th year as program coordinator, noted the program is short on coats and monetary donations to purchase coats.

His goal to keep one case (six coats) of each size on hand at all times. This year as the weather turns cooler, he does not have the inventory. With the funds available, he plans to place a small order to offer all sizes.

He hopes to be able to place a larger order near Halloween to be available for the annual Community Christmas and Coats for Kids distribution. As the community knows, fundraising has been an issue with COVID-19 pandemic restrictions.

Turnipseed said the campaign has distributed nearly 4,000 coats in the 10 years he has been with the program. Each year, he noted they have more requests for coats than the previous year.

Anyone wishing to donate new or gently used coats, can drop them off at the Allstate Office on Second St. SW, Carrollton. New hats and gloves can also be dropped off.

Monetary donations can be dropped off or mailed to 160 Second St. SW, Carrollton, OH 44615. Additional information will be available closer to distribution days.
