Makenzie Burgett and Cadyn Smith

Makenzie Burgett and Cadyn Smith were named Carrollton High School March Students of the month.
Makenzie Burgett is the daughter of Amy and Bryan Burgett of Carrollton. She has two brothers, and two sisters. Kailey and Luke Cosart and Maddie and Hayden Burgett. Maddie is Makenzie’s twin and Hayden is a sophomore in college.
She is involved in Youth to Youth, middle school mentoring, National Honor Society, cross country, track and field and 4-H. Her hobbies include going on walks, running, working out, listening to music, helping on the family farm, playing cards and games with her cousins and helping others.
Makenzie plans on going to Kent State University and becoming a registered nurse. She would like to specialize in a specific field and possibly go back to school for a higher degree.
What teacher, coach, family member, or special friend has influenced you and why? “I can not choose one,” said Burgett. “Everyone that has taught, helped, loved and cared for me all have influenced me in great ways. I am thankful for all of my friends, family, teachers, coaches and anyone that has impacted my life.”
When asked what advice Makenzie would give for success in life, the answer was: “Advice I would give others is to never give up on something you want and not let others define who you are. Everyone is capable of anything and are worthy of it.”
Cadyn Smith is the son of Jason and Linsday Smith of Carrollton. He has one brother, Ryker, in the fourth grade and one sister, Kylee, a senior in college.
He is involved in football, basketball and baseball at school. His hobbies include beating his buddies Jaxon and Lincoln in pickleball with his partner Kris Mallarnee, also known as K7X.
He plans on attending Malone University and becoming an optometrist.
What teacher, coach, family member, or special friend has influenced you and why? “Mrs. (Sue) Incerpi because she challenged me to become a better student.
When asked what advice Cadyn would give for success in life, the answer was: “Challenge yourself, the easy road does not always mean it is the best road.”
