Rockets dominate Steubenville Central Catholic in 34-13 grid win

The Conotton Valley Rockets defeated Steubenville Central Catholic 34-13 during a Thursday game, Sept. 10, on the road.

Junior Maddox Walter had 211 yards rushing on 35 attempts, averaging six yards per carry. He scored three touchdowns for the Rockets. Sophomore Evan Rice also rushed for a touchdown.

Rice, and juniors James Burlson and Garson Imes, each had five tackles.

Head Coach Don Hertler said the team played very hard. He felt the defense played good, and hung in there because Steubenville is a tough place to play.

“We won on both sides of the line of scrimmage. Chop Cottis did a great job blocking,” he said. “It was a good team win!”

The Rockets return home to host Weirton Madonna Sept. 18 at 7 p.m.
