Golf team closes out second unbeaten season

Carrollton headed into Monday’s Eastern Buckeye Conference boys golf tournament with a perfect record. 

It was the second consecutive undefeated regular season for the Warriors, who won the league and qualified for the state tournament in 2020.

The Warriors wrapped up the 2021 regular season with a 12-0 mark after defeating Minerva 147-177 at Carroll Meadows Sept. 15 and 155-170 at Great Trail Sept. 16.

The top four Warrior golfers finished within four strokes of each other in the match at Carroll Meadows, led by junior Jaxon Rinkes with a 35 and followed by John Birong 36, Colton Moore 37 and Cayden Rininger 39.

Minerva junior Case Waller and seniors Connor Good and Logan Good all fired 43s. Junior Aaron Honeycutt rounded out the scoring with a 48.

At Great Trail, Rinkes shot the low match score of 37, Moore added a 38 to the card and Birong and Barkan both shot 40s.
