A 50-year jubilee of the ordination to the priesthood of Fr. Victor P. Cinson is planned May 19.
Cinson is the pastor of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Malvern and St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Minerva.
The open house celebration will be held May 19 from 1–4 p.m. in Good Shepherd Hall, 125 S. Carrollton Street, Malvern.
The Catholic Women’s Clubs of St. Francis Xavier and St. Gabriel parishes are planning the event. It is open to the public and will include refreshments.
Fr. Cinson is a native of Malvern and was born to Victor and Mary Cinson on November 5, 1947. He attended Malvern Grade School and was a member of the first graduation class of St. Edward Central Catholic High School in Carrollton in 1966.
He attended St. John Vianney Seminary College before graduating from the College of Steubenville with a BA degree in philosophy. His ordination took place at St. Francis Xavier Church on May 14, 1974. In 1984, he continued his education at the University of Notre Dame and received a MA degree in Theology/ Liturgical Studies in 1985.
Early in his ministry Fr. Cinson taught at St. Joseph High School in Ironton and later at St. Edward Central Catholic High School in Carrollton.
Over the years he served as administrator of St. Mary’s Church, Morges; associate pastor at St. Pius X Church, Steubenville; associate pastor at St. Mary’s Church, Martins Ferry; co-pastor of Blessed Sacrament Church, Wintersville, Director of Office of Worship for Dioceses of Steubenville; Associate Pastor of Blessed Sacrament Church, Wintersville; Pastor of Our Lady of Mercy Church, Lowell; and Pastor of St. Henry Church, Harriettsville. In 2004 he was appointed Pastor of St. Gabriel Church, Minerva and St. Francis Xavier Church, Malvern.
