Life-flight transports two after separate motorcycle crashes

Two people were life flighted to area hospitals after separate motorcycle accidents over the weekend.

Douglas R. Bursh, 21, of New Philadelphia, was traveling west on SR  39 in Monroe Twp. near Royal Rd. Aug. 7 at 5:50 p.m. As he was negotiating a curve, the 1993 Honda Hawk GT motorcycle he was riding went off the right side of the roadway. The bike tipped over. Bursh was ejected. He was transported to Aultman Hospital by life-flight. According to Carroll County Sheriff Dale R. Williams, Bursh was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, but it came off.

In a separate accident, Paul Lewis, 42, of Niles, was operating a 2014 Harley Davidson motorcycle west on SR 39 between Dellroy and Sherrodsville Aug. 8 at 11:24 a.m. The bike went off the right side of the road and into a ditch before hitting a culvert. Lewis and his passenger, Angel King, 46, of Niles, were ejected. Lewis was transported to Akron General Hospital by Regional EMS. King was transported to Akron General Hospital by Med-Flight helicopter. According to Sgt. Bill Bower of the Ohio State Patrol, New Philadelphia office, both were stable, but in serious condition. Neither was wearing a helmet.
