Jaden Barkan, Emma Bodo named CHS December students of the month

Jaden Barkan and Emma Bodo were chosen as the Carrollton High School Students of the Month for December.
Barkan is the son of Kenny and Jessica Barkan of Dellroy. He has three brothers, Kenny, 19, a college student; Micah, 15, a sophomore; and Kale, 13, an 8th grade student.
He is a member of the Spanish Club and plays baseball in and out of school. He lifts at All In Training combined with workout/run/swim training with my Navy Delayed Entry Program.
Barkan has two hobbies, learning languages and cleaning his 15 Samurai swords while listening to music. He is currently teaching himself to speak wookie.
After high school, he will enter the United States Navy and plans to retire from the Navy.
Who has influenced him and why?
“My father. He is a strong example of how a man should act and keeps good core values to achieve success,” Jaden explained.
What advice can he give for success in life?
“Work hard to push your heart, soul and mind until the only person who can beat you is yourself,” he said. “Don’t get too comfortable in this life, you’ll miss out on opportunities you could have had a long time ago. Go be successful.”
Bodo, is the daughter of David and Andrea Bodo of Mechanicstown. She has two sisters, Tessa and Kyra, who are also seniors.
She is involved in Caring, Helping Sharing Club, National Honor Society, Youth2Youth and assists with Weekend Backpack Blessings. She is a member of the soccer and track teams.
Her hobby is reading. “I love to ready basically any kind of book,” Bodo said.
After high school, she would like to attend either Rice University or Case Western Reserve University to become a trauma surgeon.
Who has influenced her and why?
“My dad has influenced me the most,” Emma explained. “He’s taught me that even when things seem impossible, to never give up.”
Her advice for success in life: “Put your full heart into everything you do!”
