The remains of an individual discovered March 21 in Fox Twp. were transported to the Stark County Coroner’s office for identification.

Carroll County Sheriff Dale R. Williams said his department received a call at 2:38 p.m. from the owner of property off Torch Rd. The owner recently purchased the land and was putting property stakes in the ground. Williams said the owner was riding a four-wheeler and looked into the tree and underbrush area and saw what was thought to be a deer. After walking up, the owner realized it was a badly decomposed body.

Carroll County Coroner Dr. Mandal Haas and officials from the Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) were called to the scene. The remains were transported to the sheriff’s office until March 23 when the remains were transferred to the Stark County Coroner’s office for an autopsy and DNA.

Sheriff deputies and BCI officials previously searched the area of Cinder and Bay roads in that vicinity searching for Karren Hansen who was reported missing Sept. 5, 2019.

Sheriff Williams has no idea when an identification will be provided.
