Fun, exercise come together in Rotary Veterans 5K

The Carrollton Rotary Club is finalizing plans for the Rotary Veteran’ 5K Run/Walk and wellness event Nov. 12 at the county fairgrounds.
The event includes a run and walk for adults, fun runs for kids, corn hole games and information on healthy lifestyles provided by local health agencies.
Registration for the adult run and walk is $25. T-shirts will be provided to entrants. Entry forms can be completed the day of the race beginning at 8 a.m. or online at Runsignup.com. On the top right, look for the Find An Event tab. Click on Carrollton Rotary Veteran 5K Run/Walk and fill out the registration form.
The 5K run for both men and women begins at 9 a.m. followed by the 5K walk at 9:15 a.m.
Children’s fun runs begin at 9:45 a.m. and include a run/walk for ages 18 and over (entry fee $25); run or walk for age 17 and over (entry fee $10) and run or walk for ages 12 and over (entry fee $5).
Commissioner Bob Wirkner said the 5K run/walk counts as an activity in the 2022-23 county employee wellness program. Any employee or spouse enrolled in the 2021-22 or 2022-23 program will have the $25 entry fee paid by the county. Registration for wellness participants must be made in advance. To register, contact Melissa Schaar in the commissioners’ office at 330-627-4869.
Area health care providers, including Aultman Hospital, Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital, Carroll County General Health District, Rotary, Carroll County Dairy Board, SpringVale and Department of Job and Family Services (DJFS) adoption and foster care programs plan to set up displays.
