Fair board opens 10 bids for new show barn construction

Ten companies submitted bids for the construction of a new show barn at the county fairgrounds, ranging in price from a low of $479,900 to a high of $975,316.
The bids were opened during a special meeting to the Ag Society (fair board) Jan. 12 in the Rosebud Mining Complex.
Bidders included:
RBS General Contracting of Massillon, general construction bid – $500,050;
Strait Line Renovations, a Division of Berlin Contractors, $624,950;
Master Renovations, Ortville, $479,900.
Central Structures of Greenville, $731,840;
RG Smith Company of Dover, $975,316;
Vendrick Of Brookville, $692,700;
Benchmark Construction of New Philadelphia, $607,914;
Classical Construction of Applecreek, $631,182;
Milla Construction of Minerva, $480,635;
E. Mullins Construction of Bloomingdale, $619,425.
The general construction bid included the installation of radiant heaters, restrooms and an office, and an 8-inch block wall that would match the exterior of the Rosebud Mining Complex building. Options to deduct each item were included in the bids.
Bids were referred to the building committee, consisting of Ray Rummell, Mike Lozier, Sherman Oyer and Jim Long, with plans to make a recommendation to the full board at the Jan. 19 meeting.
