The curtain closed on the 53rd annual Algonquin Mill Fall Festival Oct. 13 after three days of picture-perfect weather.
Jennifer Cramer, president of the Carroll County Historical Society, sponsors of the event, noted opening day (Friday) started out with 33-degree temperatures “in the valley.”
“We had a thunderstorm roll through Sunday morning,” she said. However, the picture-perfect weather drew a large crowd Saturday.
“We had 20,000-plus visitors come out to enjoy the event,” Cramer noted, adding Saturday was, by far, the busiest day. “The county 4-H parking volunteers kept moving to find room for everyone. The county concession stands stayed very busy feeding everyone and the historical society volunteers seemed to have endless energy. It was a great 53rd fall festival!”
The annual event included demonstrations, crafters, entertainment, art show, craft show, visits to a one-room schoolhouse, multiple displays of hit-miss engines and a wide variety of food.
