Lady bowlers finish one-two at sectional preview tourney

The Carrollton girls bowling team is at it again. The Warriors swept the top two places at the 14th Rootstown Rover Sectional Preview tournament Jan 16.

The varsity squad won both the top team and individual honors and the junior varsity team placed second in the eight-team field.

“I’m so incredibly proud of this group of lady warrior bowlers!” said Varsity Coach Wendy Russell. “They put in the hard work and it’s great to see it paying off for them, both in the regular season as well as tournaments. For both of our teams to take the top two team spots at a tournament as well as the top three spots for individual awards is amazing!”

Individually, Carrollton swept the top three individual high series slots and the high game scores.

Caitlyn Bright had the top series with a 641, followed by Anissa Flanagan 576 and Tara Oberlin 575. Mackenzie Rummell posted the high individual game score of 229, followed by Carenda Fowler 225 and Flanagan 223.

As a team, the Carrollton varsity squad rolled a 3891 with the runner-up junior varsity team scoring 3,464.
