Chamber of Commerce banquet returns with new list of awards

Carroll County Chamber of Commerce held its first Golden Shovel and Awards Banquet in six years Sept.. 26 in the Ashton Event Center.
Chelsa Slutz, director of the Chamber of Commerce, welcomed the crowd to the dinner featuring food by The Chop House, Deli on the Square and dessert by Kishman’s IGA.
Following dinner, comedian Lou Santini entertained attendees with personal anecdotes and jokes with audience participation. Santini has been a professional entertainer for over 37 years.
RJ Mancini, manager of JobsOhio, briefly spoke to chamber members about how JobsOhio can assist local business and industry, which is to empower corporations, small businesses and entrepreneurs build businesses and careers.

The Golden Shovel Awards were presented to businesses wich invested $50,000 or more into the business the past year. Recipients included Ace Hardware in Carrollton, Buckeye Council BSA, Carroll County Council on Aging, Carrollton Exempted Village Schools, Noramco, Inc., and village of Carrollton.
The Small Business Award was presented to the Carroll County Coffee Company.
“The Carroll County Coffee Company was nominated by fellow chamber members for their outstanding dedication to their community by allowing organizations a warm meeting space that feels like home,” said Slutz. “They help support our small business community by partnering with other local businesses to promote Carrollton to visitors and fellow community members alike.”
The Large Business Award was presented to Consumers National Bank.
“Nominated by fellow chamber members for their commitment to being a community bank and going above and beyond for customers, even after hours,” said Slutz who announced the winner. “They recently helped with the new Hemming Crossings building, which is bringing low-income housing options to seniors in our community.”
The Warrior Spirit Award was presented to Pieces With Purpose.
“Nominated by fellow members for their unwavering support of our chamber and local community,” said Slutz. “They go above and beyond to design items for our local schools and businesses. They provide a safe space for developmentally disabled adults and children the opportunity to learn and work. Time and time again they show up in many ways to support our community.”
