The Buckeye Career Center Foundation awarded 21 scholarships to Buckeye Career Center seniors. The presentations were made May 5 at Buckeye Career Center.

The scholarships are unique as the money can be used for more than just higher education. “We are one of a very few scholarships that can be used for tools of their trade or adult vocational education,” explained Kimberly Hobart Fleming, Buckeye Foundation trustee and recognition awards program event chair. The scholarships are made possible by community contributions.

Each of the 21 students received a scholarship worth $2,500.

Area scholarship recipients include Brian Barnhart (Welding and Natural Resources/Carrollton); Kylie Ferguson (Intro to Nursing/Conotton Valley); Victoria Frazee (Medical Assisting/Carrollton); Jocelynn Nuske (Exercise Science and Medical Assisting/ Carrollton); Lynette Palmer (Graphic Arts/Conotton Valley); Hannah Romeo (Graphic Arts/ Carrollton); and Shelby Spencer (Construction/Carrollton).

Anyone interested in contributing to the Buckeye Foundation for future scholarships can mail their donation to: Buckeye Career Center Foundation: PO Box 355, New Philadelphia, OH 44663.
