Madi Baker of Carrollton closed out her junior fair career with a win in the won the coveted Super Showmanship contest at the 2024 Carroll County Fair.
Baker won the dairy showman of showmen title and earned the right to compete against eight other showman of showmen Friday morning. Contestants instructed the other participants on how to show the species they represented and then served as judge for that species along with three guest judges.
Species represented, along with dairy, included poultry, goats, hogs, steers, lambs, horses, rabbits and dairy beef.
The award was presented during the trophy presentation Sunday of the fair. Katrina Nitz, 4-H agent, noted Baker tallied 81 points in the contest.
Baker is a 2023 graduate of Carrollton High School and will be a sophomore at West Virginia University when classes resume this fall.
