Minerva’s Roxy Theatre will hold auditions for its next stage production, “Deathtrap,” Tuesday and Wednesday, June 1 and 2, at 6 p.m.

Those auditioning should prepare a short piece to perform.

The cast includes three males and two females, and production dates are Sept. 10 and 11, and 17 and 18.

“Deathtrap” is the story of Sidney Bruhl, a once successful playwright whose latest stage production flops on its opening night. Sidney spirals into a deep depression until he receives a package, containing an unproduced script that is better than anything he has written, from his former student Clifford Anderson. With his wife, Myra’s, insistence, Sidney invites Clifford to his home in a plot to kill him and claim the script as his own.

Characters in the play are: Sidney Bruhl, 40-50 years old, successful playwright whose body of work consists of mystery thrillers; Myra Bruhl, 30-40 years old, nervous sort with a heart condition; Clifford Anderson, early to mid-20s, attractive and eager young playwright; Helga ten Dorp, 40-50 years old, a famous Dutch psychic who has rented the neighboring home; and Porter Milgram, mid-50s, Sidney’s lawyer.

The Roxy Theatre is located at 120 N. Market St.

Volunteers are always welcome to help with sets, costumes, concessions, and other tasks.
