Walter “Waldo” Moskey, 101, of St. Clairsville, Ohio, died July 27, 2024, in East Ohio Regional Hospital, Martins Ferry.
He was born Dec. 14, 1922, in Acosta, Pennsylvania.
Walter was a United States Army Air Corps veteran having served in World War II. He was a retired employee of Consolidation Coal Company. Walter was a member of the Mt. Zion Methodist Church where he taught Sunday School for many years. His memberships included the VFW Post #5356 and the American Legion Post #159 both in St. Clairsville. Waldo enjoyed gardening, making his famous Waldo’s Wine, and following NASCAR Racing and he was a huge fan of Dale Earnhardt.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna Lou Moskey; three brothers, Joe, Frank and Stanley and two sisters, Helen and Josephine.
Walter is survived by two sons, Charles “Chuck” (Dianna) Moskey and Robert “Bob” (JoAnn) Moskey; two stepdaughters, Diana (Anthony) Bodo and Deborah Patton; his grandchildren, Amy (Scott) St. Clair, Tami (Jeff Roscoe) Pitcher, Lisa (Ryan) Clark, Kayla (Rob) Kramer, Adam (Bora) Moskey, and Brock Moskey; step grandchildren, Heath (Melissa) Bodo and Dr. Brittany Bodo; great grandchildren, Alexis and Alec St. Clair, Madison and Morgan Pitcher, Taylor and Zachary Clark, Payton and Presley Kramer, Zelie Moskey; step-great-grandchildren, Carmen and Gino Bodo.
Family and friends will be received at the Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville, Ohio on Friday, Aug. 2, from 9 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. with Rev. Ray Benesh officiating and Full Military Honors will be conducted by the Belmont County Veterans Association.
