Hoy E. “Gene” Moyer, 86, of Bowerston, Ohio, died Tuesday morning, Dec. 27, 2022 in the Carroll Golden Age Retreat at Carrollton. Denise Freeland of Minerva and Patricia Quick of Canton saw a lot of progress and firsts for Stark Parks during their board tenure. Frank D. Mapes, 84, of Carrollton, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Dec. 31, 2022 at his home. He was born in Port Author, Texas, on May 13, 1938, to the late Orval and Alpha (Todd) Mapes. Throughout his life, Frank was an avid woodworker, making many things including toys and angel sculptures, one of which was donated to and is on display at the Akron Children’s Hospital.
