Dave DiDonato wraps up final season in HOF coaching career

CHS Athletic HOF inductees announced

Four individuals and one team are set for induction into the Carrollton High School Athletic Hall of Fame in August.  The induction committee met recently and selected the late Alvin “Hike” Reed (class of 1941), Matt Velain (2005), Ryan Pape (2005) and Ashley Lowdermilk (2004) along with the 2003 girls varsity volleyball team. Ribbon cutting marks naming of new show arena Ashton Event Center

Carroll County Ag Society (fair board) members celebrated the naming of the new show complex on the county fairgrounds during the May meeting.  The 70-by-140-feet complex was completed just in time for the 2021 county fair and was named the Ashton Event Center during the annual fair board meeting in November 2021. May 17, members of the Ashton Preservation Association and fair board members gathered for a ribbon cutting ceremony.

Mary Ann Furey, 83

Mary Ann Furey, 83, of Avon, died quietly May 21, 2022. Born Aug. 16, 1938, in Hanoverton, she graduated from Augusta High School in 1956. Prior to attending Kent State University where she received a degree in Art Education, Mary Ann spent several years as an illustrator for Higbees Department Stores. She began her career as an art teacher at Avon High School and later taught at Elmhurst High School.
