Donna Mae Hull, 91, of Mechanicstown, passed away at her home Sunday, Jan. 16, 2022, after an extended illness.  Born Sept. 16, 1930, in Jacobsburg, OH, she was a daughter to Lloyd and Faye (Beckett) Lowther.Donna was a life-long resident of Mechanicstown and attended Carrollton Schools. She married Ralph E. COVID test kit shipment delayed; when available, schools will get first dibs

Ohio’s shipment of proctored test kits has been delayed by the manufacturer as demand for the tests has increased nationwide during the Omicron-driven surge in COVID-19 cases. Outstanding elementary teacher ‘always helping students’

Lisa Truman tapped for Appalachian coalition award By Carol McIntire Editor Lisa Truman was recognized for being named the Outstanding Elementary Teacher at Carrollton Schools by the Coalition for Rural and Appalachian Schools (CORAS) during the Jan. 11 Carrollton board of education meeting.  Elementary Principal Matt Nicholas, who nominated Truman, said when asked for a nominee, he knew right away she was his selection, adding, “she is always helping students.”

Residents present council petition to allow golf carts on streets

By Carol McIntire Editor Golf carts could soon join automobiles and motorcycles on the streets of Carrollton if a group of residents get their way.  Resident Danny Leggett presented Mayor Bill Stoneman and Village Administrator Mark Wells with a petition signed by about 50 residents asking village council to approve legislation authorizing the use of golf carts on village streets. Council took up the discussion during its Jan. 10 meeting.
