Warriors recognize coach during Breast Cancer Awareness Month

The Carrollton Warriors football team wore pink jerseys during the Oct. 2 game to celebrate Breast Cancer Awareness Month, but chose to honor one of their own fighting cancer prior to the contest with Cambridge. The Warriors recognized Coach Josh Beadnell, who was diagnosed with cancer in June 2020, and his family during pre-game festivities. The coach is undergoing treatment for a high-grade glioma (brain cancer).

Michael Andrew Taggart, 75, formerly of Scio, passed away, Sept. 30, 2020, at Ashbrook Group Home in Mesa, AZ. Born Dec. 6, 1944, in Harrison County, he was the son of the late Paul E. Shockey sets record, girls team qualifies for district

Carrollton senior Erin Shockey led her team to a qualifying spot in the district golf tournament with a record-setting performance in the sectional tournament Sept. 29 at Carroll Meadows Golf Course. The Community Christmas Program will accept applications for the program this year on the following dates: Oct. 19 and 23 from 1-3 p.m. and Oct. 21 and 27 from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Signups will be at the Senior Friendship Center at 100 Kensington Rd. Motorcyclist dies in SR 9 crash

The New Philadelphia Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a multi-vehicle crash that claimed the life of a Carroll County man. According to Sgt. Gary Wolfe, the crash occurred Saturday, Oct. 3, at 4:10 p.m. on SR 9 south of Arbor Rd. Brian Starkey, 42, of Carrollton was pronounced dead at the scene.
